For my blurbs I picked Nick Franklin as my hitter and Jason Hammel as my pitcher.
With Franklin it is a mix of things, but primarily the fact that middle infield is very thin and Franklin has raked in the minors this year. Hopefully he can continue that production in the big leagues. His two dingers on Thursday are a pretty good indication that he might.
For Hammel, I'm wondering if he is starting to come around. He's supposed to be the Orioles' ace but his performance this year has been fairly pedestrian. However, in his last two starts he's averaged 7.1 innings, seven K's, two runs, and just one walk. We'll see if he can keep pitching like an ace, but he has recently, he did last year, and he's healthy.
Not a bad gamble for a guy who is available in more than 50% of leagues, right?
